In the realm of the paranormal, spirits often play a significant role in investigations, guiding and protecting those who seek to uncover the mysteries of the otherworldly. The spirits we meet along the way run the gamut of personalities, happy go lucky, jokesters, jerks, you name it, we’ve encountered it!. Occasionally we get lucky and find a spirit that truly becomes a friend. One such spirit is Samuel, affectionately known as Sam, who has made his presence known on numerous occasions during our investigations and in everyday life.
Samuel, or Sam for short as he prefers being called, first made his presence known several years ago during one of our A Night Among Ghosts’ investigation tours. We are cautious to not pry and ask questions that would make our ghostly friends uncomfortable. We met Sam one night while sitting under the branches of a huge old oak that held both fantastical beauty and an unsettling energy. Over the spirit box, Sam shared that he had been an enslaved person in life, Sam revealed to us that he met an untimely end, following a tragic misunderstanding. Despite the circumstances of his passing, Sam’s spirit exudes warmth, humor, and a protective energy that has left a lasting impression on those who encounter him.
During our tours and investigations, Sam has become a familiar presence, often making his presence known with his catchphrase, a simple yet reassuring “alright.” His energetic demeanor and quick wit have earned him the title of the spirit guide that I (Heather) sought out for myself. We have learned a decent amount about him over the years, including family dynamics and things he likes, and dislikes as well as enlightening conversations about the spirit realm. Sam’s connection to the earthly realm remains strong as he continues to watch over and interact with the living.
Sam’s role as a spirit guide extends beyond mere conversation and presence; he is known to surround A Night Among Ghosts’ investigations with protection and positive energy. Whether offering words of encouragement, providing insights into the paranormal activity at hand, or simply sharing a moment of levity with those present, Sam’s influence is felt by all who have the privilege of encountering him.
